In 1995 Cosatu was formed and unions organizing in the same industries were compelled to merge with 5 trade union. As a results NUMSA was born. Carlton Khoza was elected as a deputy secretary of NUMSA and later was elected as a local union organizer. From 1996-2022, He worked for Henry Hollard Associates as a Labor relation consultant.
